Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Greenville, SC - The Augusta GreenJackets have played in four one-run games this season, the last three of which have gone their way. The GreenJackets hung on in the ninth inning for the second straight day to earn a 3-2 win over the Greenville Drive on Friday night.

Augusta scored first for the second straight day, turning Brett Krill's one-out triple into a run thanks to Ben Thomas' sacrifice fly that put the GreenJackets up 1-0. That lead held until the seventh when the GreenJackets got two more runs. Joe Staley's RBI single scored Thomas to double Augusta's lead to 2-0. Later in the frame, a double play ball brought home Chuckie Jones to push the Augusta advantage to three runs.

The Drive weren't done yet, in large part because of help given to them by the GreenJackets. Augusta defensive errors put the first two men on base during the Greenville half of the eighth inning. Lucas LeBlanc doubled home a run to put the Drive on the board, down 3-1. Jordan Weems grounded out to bring home a second Greenville run and put the tying run at third with one out. Scotty Walker buckled down at that point to get the final two outs of the seventh and preserve the one-run Augusta lead.

In the bottom of the ninth, LeBlanc singled with one out and took second on a wild pitch to put the tying run in scoring position. Cody Hall got a groundout and a pop out to leave LeBlanc at second to end the game, earning Hall his fourth save of the season and second in as many nights.

Bryce Bandilla looked sharp for Augusta in his first start of the season, striking out six in three scoreless innings of one-hit ball. DeMondre Arnold (2-0) walked four in his two scoreless innings, but didn't allow a hit and earned the win in relief. Greenville's Mickey Pena (1-2) was the hard-luck loser, scattering five hits and a walk in five innings of one-run ball, striking out four.

The GreenJackets will send Kyle Crick (0-1, 3.68) to the mound on Saturday as they look to make it three in a row while Greenville counters with Luis Diaz (0-2, 5.84) in a matchup of righties. First pitch comes at 7:05 p.m. with radio pregame coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1340 AM and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.

The GreenJackets return home to open a seven-game homestand on Tuesday April 24th against the Kannapolis Intimidators at 7:05 p.m., with gates opening at 6 p.m.

Single-game tickets for any GreenJackets home game are currently available by calling the GreenJackets front office at 706-922-WINS and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.
