Washington Wild Things News Release
Washington, PA-It seemed to be déja vu for the Bandits again as infielder Cheyenne Coyle and starting pitcher Monica Abbott shined for the second straight night in the Chicago Bandits 11-1 win over the Pennsylvania Rebellion in the Rebellion's inaugural season home finale at CONSOL Energy Park Tuesday.
Monica Abbott earned her second straight victory for the Bandits. She allowed one run over five innings, struck out ten, walked four and surrendered just one hit. Pennsylvania starter Tatum Edwards lasted just one-third of an inning in the circle for PA before she was relieved by Pennsylvania's Anna Miller.
The Chicago Bandits unleashed for three home runs in the victory and instead of outfielder Megan Wiggins like in Monday's contest, the attention was turned to her teammate Coyle as she finished the night 2-3 at the dish including a pair of home runs in the first and fifth innings.
Wiggins quickly put the Bandits in front 1-0 as she connected for her fourth home run in the last three games of this series. An RBI single by Kristen Butler and a grand slam by Cheyenne Coyle, her second home run in as many nights, extended the Chicago lead 6-0.
With bases loaded in the top of the third, Bandits infielder Danielle Zymkowitz sliced a bases-clearing double to make the score 9-0 in favor of Chicago.
In the bottom of the fourth, Pennsylvania infielder Bianca Mejia blasted her fourth home run of the season, a solo shot, for the Rebellion's lone tally of the night, 9-1.
Coyle struck once again in the top of the fifth as she powered her second home run of the game for a Chicago 10-1 advantage. The Bandits added their last run in the top of the seventh off an RBI single by infielder Amber Patton to secure the 11-1 victory.
The Rebellion are off until Thursday when they conclude their 2014 season with a four game series against the USSSA Pride in Orlando, Florida. All the action can be heard on WJPA 95.3 FM and/or Twitter @PARebellion.
