Aviators Walk Ten; Lose 12-7

LOVES PARK, IL- The Rockford Aviators (31-45), presented by Pearson, were overmatched in tonight's high-scoring affair, losing to the Southern Illinois Miners (47-29), 12-7.

Tony Butler got the start for the Aviators. He struggled to find the zone tonight and only pitched 3.2 innings. In his outing he allowed only three hits but seven runs and eight walks.

Tanner Witt hit a two-RBI single in the first inning to put the Aviators on the board with the lead at 2-1.

Both teams benefited from the long ball. Marquis Riley hit a 2-run home run that gave the Miners a 9-5 lead.

Mason Morioka hit his first home run of the year. It was a solo shot that trimmed the lead to 9-6.

Niko Vasquez gave the Miners their run back with a RBI single that made the score 10-6.

Edgar Corcino hit his seventh home run of the year. His solo shot cut into the lead as the Aviators trailed 10-7.

Frank Martinez added another home run for the Miners in the eighth inning. His two-run home run gave the Miners a 12-7 advantage.

Aviators pitchers surrendered ten walks tonight. Both teams were sloppy on the field as the game totaled six errors.

The Aviators will continue their series with the Miners tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. The Aviators have just a few Wednesday home games remaining this season and you don't want to miss the chance to cash in if the Aviators fail to win.
