Ray Schultz Back With Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League's 2001-02 Regular Season Champion and Eastern Conference Playoff Champion Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the assignment of Defenseman Ray Schultz to the team by the Islanders.

Schultz led the Sound Tigers with 205 penalty minutes, had 15 assists and was a +21 in 69 games last season. The Red Deer, Alberta native also appeared in two games with the Islanders posting five penalty minutes last year. He has posted 23 penalty minutes in three games with the Islanders this season. Schultz was the eighth pick, 184th overall, of the Ottawa Senators in the 1995 NHL draft.

Earlier this week, the Sound Tigers announced the assignment of Center Justin Mapletoft and Left Wing Raffi Torres to Bridgeport, as well as the recall of Center Eric Manlow and Right Wings Trent Hunter and Mattias Weinhandl by the Islanders.

The Sound Tigers will visit the Albany River Rats, with whom they are tied for first place in the East Division, tonight at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on "The ZONE" FOX Sports Radio 1300, WSTC/WNLK 1400/1350 and at www.soundtigers.com. Tonight's game will mark the start of two straight weeks in which the Sound Tigers will play four games in five nights.
