WHAT'S ON TAP: The Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (3-3-1-1) set forth on a two games in two nights mission with the San Antonio Rampage (1-6-0-0) tonight at the SBC Center. It's the first of four meetings between the teams in 2002-03. The Ducks completed a six-game homestand (October 19-November 2) with a 2-2-1-1 record and are playing their first road game since October 18, when they downed the defending Calder Cup champion Chicago Wolves, 4-3, at Allstate Arena. San Antonio enters having lost five in a row, including a 4-2 defeat November 3 versus Houston in its home debut at the SBC Center.

Tonight's game is the first of four episodes between the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and expansion San Antonio Rampage this season and the first of two visits to the Alamo City. The clubs will complete a two-game series tomorrow night at the SBC Center. San Antonio will visit Cincinnati November 30 and January 19 to round out the season series.

Rampage center Mike Green spent part of last season with Cincinnati, collecting 11 points (2-9-11) in 22 games...San Antonio goaltender Chris Mason began his professional career wearing an eggplant and jade uniform in 1997-98, posting a 13-19-7 record with a 3.45 goals-against average in 47 appearances...Cincinnati defenseman Todd Reirden spent part of the 1996-97 and 1997-98 season with the San Antonio Dragons of the now-defunct IHL.

November 2, Syracuse 4 at Cincinnati 2: Andjre Nedorost scored a pair of goals and Kent McDonell added a goal and two assists, leading the Syracuse Crunch to a 4-2 victory over the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks at the Cincinnati Gardens. Matt Davidson also scored for Syracuse, which snapped a three-game losing streak and won for the first time since March 2, 2001 in Cincinnati (1-5-0-0). Jean-Francois Labbe, assigned earlier in the day by NHL Columbus for conditioning, made 33 saves, including 15 in the second period. Jonathan Hedstrom scored twice to extend his point scourge to seven games for Cincinnati, which had a three-game unbeaten streak stopped. Jean-Francois Damphousse stopped 16-of-12 shots in the loss.

November 1, Syracuse 2 at Cincinnati 4: Jean-Francois Damphousse made 29 saves and Samuel Pahlsson had a goal and an assist as Cincinnati beat the Syracuse Crunch 4-2 at the Cincinnati Gardens. Travis Brigley, Ben Guite and Rob Valicevic also scored for Cincinnati, which extended its unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1-0). Jonathan Hedstrom chipped in with a pair of assists to extend his point streak to six games. Jeremy Reich and Matt Davidson had a goal and an assist each for Syracuse, which dropped its third straight game. Karl Goehring made 25 saves in the loss.

October 26, Utah 1 at Cincinnati 4: Travis Brigley, Peter Podharadsky and Cam Severson each scored in the first period to lead the Mighty Ducks past the Utah Grizzles, 4-1, at the Cincinnati Gardens. Jonathan Hedstrom added at goal and Jean-Francois Damphousse turned away 26 shots for Cincinnati, which halted a three-game winless streak (0-1-1-1). Alexei Komarov netted the lone goal for Utah, which had its three-game winning streak halted. Corey Hirsch allowed three goals on 17 first-period shots and ended with 31 saves in the loss.

October 25, Milwaukee 3 at Cincinnati 3: Darren Haydar scored the tying goal late in the third period to help the Milwaukee Admirals rally to tie the Mighty Ducks, 3-3, at the Cincinnati Gardens. Cameron Mann and Andrew Hutchinson also scored for Milwaukee, which extended its season-opening unbeaten streak to four games (2-0-2-0). Ben Guite and Nick Smith each had a goal and an assist for Cincinnati, which let a third period lead slip away for the fourth time in five games. Ilja Bryzgalov made 31 saves, including five in overtime, to preserve the tie for the Ducks. Jan Lasak stopped 25 shots in net for Milwaukee.

October 20, Houston 4 at Cincinnati 3: Jean-Guy Trudel's goal with 3:35 left lifted the Houston Aeros to a 4-3 victory over the Mighty Ducks at the Cincinnati Gardens. Erik Reitz, who scored the game-winning overtime goal the previous night, tied the score at 3-3 with a tally early in the third period for the Aeros. Dieter Kochan stopped 29 shots to pick up his third win for Houston, which extended its season-opening winning streak to five games. Cam Severson scored twice for Cincinnati, which fell to 1-2-0-1. Ilja Bryzgalov took the loss after allowing four goals on 35 shots.

Cincinnati Mighty Ducks 2002-2003 Team Notes

FOR THE RECORD: The Ducks are 3-3-1-1 (.500 winning percentage) for eight points through their first eight games of the 2002-03 campaign. They enter tonight's game two points behind Grand Rapids for the swank penthouse suite in the Central Division with a game in hand.

ON THE HOME LAIR (2-2-1-1, .500): The Ducks finished a six-game homestand (October 19-November 2) with a 2-2-1-1 record. Cincinnati has tallied 20 of its 28 goals at home (71.4 percent). Two of the 20 goals have been scored on the power-play (10.0 percent). Last season the Ducks posted a 19-12-7-2 (.588 winning percentage) record for 47 points at home. Cincinnati is 90-78-27-11 (.529 winning percentage) all-time in the house that Rocky Farr built.

DUCKS ON THE ROAD (1-1-0-0, .500): The Ducks are 1-1-0-0 away from home this season, including a 4-3 win October 18 in Chicago in their last game on foreign ice. Cincinnati has tallied eight of its 28 goals on the road (28.6 percent). Two of the eight goals have been scored on the power-play (25.0 percent). Last season the Ducks finished 14-21-4-1 (.413 winning percentage) for 33 points away from home. Cincinnati is 75-98-20-9 (.443 winning percentage) all-time in games in which they arrive by bus, plane or train.

IN THE STANDINGS: The Ducks have spent the following days alone or tied at each position in the American Hockey League Central Division standings: FIRST – 6, SECOND – 4, THIRD – 1, FOURTH – 6, FIFTH – 0.

EUROPEAN IMPACT: Right wing Jonathan Hedstrom enters tonight's game with a current seven-game point streak (6-3-9). He leads the Ducks in goals (six), first goals (two) and unassisted goals (two). Hedstrom's plus-6 rating is tied for second-best on the club.

GETTING ON THE BOARD FIRST: The Ducks have scored the game's first goal in each of their eight games this season. All eight of the club's game-opening goals have been scored in the first period, including three goals being struck within 30 seconds of the opening faceoff (Severson 22 seconds 10/20 vs. Houston; Martensson 30 seconds 10/25 vs. Milwaukee; Hedstrom 23 seconds 11/2 vs. Syracuse).

GOAL GUARDIAN: Goaltender Ilja Bryzgalov has faced and stopped two penalty shot attempts this season. He stoned J.P. Vigier in the second period October 12 at Chicago and robbed Greg Koehler in the third period October 25 vs. Milwaukee.

SPECIAL STUFF: Power Play – The Ducks are 4-for-58 on the power-play (6.9%, 27th in AHL) with one shorthanded goal given up...they are 2-for-19 (10.5%, 23rd in AHL) with the man-advantage away from home...Cincinnati's extra-man band has not scored in its last 31 power-play chances...Penalty Killing – The Ducks have allowed seven opposition power-play goals in 62 shorthanded situations (88.7%, 2nd in AHL)...they have surrendered five opposition power-play goasl in 22 shorthanded situations (77.3%, 25th in AHL) away from home...the Ducks penalty killing ensemble has surrended just one opposition power-play goal in their last 33 shorthanded situations...Cincinnati has scored three shorthanded goals: Hedstrom 10/18 at Chicago; Guite 10/25 vs. Milwaukee; Brigley 10/26 vs. Milwaukee.

DUCKS IN OVERTIME: The Ducks are 12-21-47 all-time in overtime games, including 0-1-1 this season (0-1-1 at home; 0-0-0 on the road).

WOUNDED DUCKS: D Jan Tabecek (shoulder) is out indefinitely...C Jarrett Smith (hip-flexor) is day-to-day (aren't we all?)...The Ducks have lost seven man-games due to injury this season... Last season Cincinnati lost 255 man-games due to injury.
