GRAND CHUTE, Wis. - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers hit four home runs in an 11-7 win over the Kernels on Thursday night. The Timber Rattlers plated runs in five straight innings from the second to the sixth.

Felix Jorge (2-3) started for the Kernels and allowed eight runs on eight hits over 3 2/3 innings while taking the loss. He struck out one and walked three. Jorge allowed two of the home runs in the game. He's now allowed a total of eight homers on the season - the most in the Midwest League.

The Kernels (18-15) took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Joel Licon's RBI single to center plated Jason Kanzler. Later in the inning, Engelb Vielma's RBI sacrifice fly to right field plated Bo Altobelli.

Wisconsin (15-18) quickly answered with three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Taylor Brennan's RBI single brought David Denson home to get the home team's scoring started. Next batter, Jose Pena nailed the first of Wisconsin's four home runs on the night. It was a two-run shot to put the Timber Rattlers ahead 3-2.

In the third inning, Kanzler went deep for the Kernels to move Cedar Rapids in front 4-3. Kanzler's two-run blast to center came with Ivory Thomas on base. It was Kanzler's second home run of the season. It was one of three hits on the night for Kanzler, who also finished with three runs scored.

However, the lead was short-lived as Clint Coulter connected for his league-best seventh home run of the season in the bottom of the third inning. Coulter's tape-measure blast to left scored Chris McFarland, who had doubled moments earlier. Wisconsin moved ahead 5-4 on Coulter's swing and never trailed the rest of the game.

Wisconsin plated four runs in the fourth inning to move ahead 9-4. Jorge walked the final two batters he faced - with his final pitch getting past home and allowing Angel Ortega to score. Alex Muren entered the game and allowed a three-run home run to Denson. Denson's third of the season went the opposite way to left, and the Rattlers rolled from that point. Wisconsin added a run in the fifth inning when Brennan tripled and scored on Pena's RBI single, making the score 10-4.

The Kernels tallied three runs in the sixth inning to trim Wisconsin's lead to 10-7 as they sent nine men to the plate. Vielma's infield RBI single plated Kanzler to make it 10-5. Later in the inning, Zack Larson capped off a terrific at-bat by scoring both Altobelli and Vielma with a two-run single into center.

Wisconsin extended the lead to 11-7 in the bottom of the sixth inning when McFarland hit the fourth and final homer of the night. McFarland's fifth of the season went to left and was the final tally of the evening.

Muren went 2 1/3 innings for the Kernels in relief and allowed three runs on four hits. Brandon Bixler went two scoreless innings following Muren.

Trevor Seidenberger (2-0) picked up the win for Wisconsin as he went 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief. Starter Barrett Astin went four innings and allowed four runs on six hits.
