
Bees Drop Game Two

(Burlington-IA)- For the second straight night the Burlington Bees let a lead slip away at the hands of the Kane County Cougars, losing game two of the series 5-2 at Community Field.
The Bees scored in the bottom of the first inning when Kody Eaves sent a drive to right that cleared the wall for a home run, Eaves' first of the season, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead.
Kane County tied the game up at one in the fourth inning on a Ben Carhart single scoring
The Bees smacked a pair of doubles in the sixth inning, which led to a run. Chad Hinshaw scored on Mike Fish's double to left giving the Bees a 2-1 lead.
Kane County went on to score three in the eighth inning highlighted by a two run homerun from Jordan Hankins.
The Cougars went on to add another run in the ninth and the Bees could not recover, falling to Kane County 5-2.
Mike Fish led the Bees offensively, going 3-for-3 with an RBI double. Starter Harrison Cooney did not factor into the decision, allowing just an unearned run in six innings, striking out four.
Cougars' reliever Gerardo Concepcion (1-1) picked up the win while Bees' reliever Victor Alcantara (0-2) was charged with the loss. Cougars closer Nathan Dorris (1) earned the save. With the loss the Bees fall to 16-17.
The Bees wrap up their series with the Kane County Cougars tomorrow night at Community Field at 6:30 PM. Ryan Etsell takes the mound for the Bees and will face Kane County's Paul Blackburn.
