San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage's (43-21-5-1) franchise record nine-game win streak came to an end on Saturday night, as the Rampage fell to the Adirondack Flames (33-28-6-2) 7-3 in front of 7,683 at the AT&T Center.
Kyle Rau made his professional debut and notched his first pro goal, while Blake Parlett and Bobby Butler also scored for the Silver and Black.
Adirondack's Garnet Hathaway buried the game's first goal, giving the Flames a 1-0 lead just 1:16 into the contest. Emile Poirier extended the Flames' lead to two with a power-play marker almost six minutes later.
Rau got the Rampage on the board early in the middle stanza to make it a 2-1 game.
The Flames responded with goals from Bill Arnold and Dustin Stevenson less than two minutes apart to give Adirondack a 4-1 lead and end the night for Sam Brittain, who was replaced by Michael Houser.
Blake Parlett's wrister from the right circle beat Doug Carr to bring the Rampage within two, and San Antonio would enter the second break trailing 4-2.
At the 8:44 mark of the third frame, Butler collected a pass from Corban Knight and scored his team-leading 27th goal of the season to make it 4-3, but the Rampage weren't able to complete the comeback.
The Flames scored three goals in the last 2:52 of the game, including two empty-net tallies, to account for the final 7-3 score.
With the loss and Utica's win over Hamilton, the Rampage drop into a tie with the Grand Rapids Griffins for second place in the Western Conference.
Butler is now just three goals away from becoming the franchise's fifth 30-goal scorer, and San Antonio is five goals away from breaking the franchise record for goals in a season.
