Tyler Randell pounced on a blocked shot in the high slot and whipped home the game-winner with just 23.6 seconds remaining in regulation as the Providence Bruins completed the two-game sweep of the St. John's IceCaps with a 5-4 win at Mile One Centre on Saturday night.

Joel Armia scored his first two goals as a member of the IceCaps and Chase Balisy chipped in with three assists as the IceCaps' winless skid hit five games.

Blair Riley opened the scoring just 33 seconds into the contest. Will O'Neill fired a seemingly harmless wrist shot on net and Riley got a piece of the puck to redirect it behind Bruins starter Jeremy Smith.

It took the Bruins less than two minutes to respond as Chris Breen teed up a slap shot from the left point. IceCaps starter Peter Budaj got a piece but the puck trickled over the line to tie the game.

Armia gave the IceCaps the 2-1 lead as IceCaps captain Jason Jaffray cut into the Bruins zone down the right side and rifled a shot on goal. Smith couldn't handle the rebound and Armia was able to locate the puck in the slot and sweep it into the net for his first as an IceCap at 3:35.

The Bruins roared back to take a 3-2 lead with two goals in 14 seconds from Andrew Cherniwchan and Zack Phillips by the 14:31 mark of the opening period, spelling the end of Budaj's night after allowing three goals on six shots in 14:31 of playing time.

Armia's second of the game, a quick shot off a scramble in the slot, at 15:33 tied the game at three, ending a crazy six-goal opening period.

The Bruins took back the lead at 9:10 of the second period as Alexander Khokhlachev finished off a beautiful passing play at the side of the net on a feed from Seth Griffith.

Patrice Cormier tied the game on the power play with 7:26 left in the game as he took a pass from Balisy at the side of the net, skated out front and used two whacks at the puck to beat Smith.

Randell beat Hellebuyck with the game winner at 19:36, giving the IceCaps goaltender a final stat line of 12 saves on 14 shots in 45:05 of relief time.

The IceCaps take on the Hershey Bears next Friday at Saturday at Mile One (7:30 p.m. NDT). Catch all the action with Brian Rogers at www.stjohnsicecaps.com, 930AM and www.ahllive.com.
