Hershey Bears News Release

NORFOLK, Va. - Pheonix Copley made 25 saves to record his third shutout of the season, helping the Hershey Bears rebound with a 2-0 win over the Norfolk Admirals in the two teams' last-ever meeting.

The first period was played with tight defense by both teams and ended scoreless. Each team failed on one power play chance. The Admirals had the best opportunity of the opening frame when Max Friberg was sent in on a shorthanded breakaway, but his backhander was forced wide by Copley.

In the second, the Bears would work a two-man power play advantage, and just after the first portion concluded, the visitors would strike to grab the 1-0 lead. Stan Galiev got loose in the slot, took a feed from Tim Kennedy and ripped the puck past Admirals goaltender Ryan Faragher at 2:41.

The Bears held the lead until the final period, using a strong penalty kill along the way. With 1:06 left in regulation, Casey Wellman took a long feed from Cameron Schilling, got behind the defense and slipped a shot into the empty net to finish the scoring.

Copley improves to 15-3-3 on the season with the win, while Faragher played another fantastic game, finishing with 27 saves on 28 shots. His record drops to 2-8-0.

With the win, the Bears' record now stands at 43-20-5-3 (94 points), and the team's magic number to clinch the East Division has been reduced to six points.

The Bears will travel to Newfoundland for a pair of games against the St. John's IceCaps next Friday and Saturday, April 10 and 11. Faceoff on both nights is at 6:00 PM ET.
