Pheonix Copley Pitches 2-0 Shutout against Admirals

Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK, Va. - One day after shutting out the Hershey Bears by a 4-0 score, the Norfolk Admirals were themselves shutout Saturday night at Scope Arena, 2-0.
Following a scoreless first period, it took just 2:41 into the middle frame for the Bears to sink the first goal. Directly after the Admirals killed the first half of a 5-on-3 penalty, Ryan Faragher made a big stop between the pipes, but gave up a rebound. Tim Kennedy picked it up and brought the puck up the left wall before finding Stanislav Galiev at the high slot. Galiev blasted it straight down the middle, beating Faragher for his league-leading 15th power-play marker and giving Hershey a 1-0 lead.
Hershey added an insurance goal with 1:06 left to play in the game with Ryan Faragher on the bench for an extra attacker. Cameron Schilling intercepted an Admirals' dump-in attempt in the Bears' zone and sent a stretch pass up ice for Casey Wellman. Wellman slid it into the empty net and secured Hershey's 2-0 victory.
Copley stopped all 25 shots he faced, while Faragher stopped 25 of 26. The Bears went 1-for-4 on the power play, and the Admirals were held scoreless on their five man-advantage opportunities.
With Norfolk moving its franchise to San Diego for the 2014-15 season, tonight marked the final time the Bears and Admirals faced each other as AHL opponents.
The Admirals leave the confines of Scope Arena after tonight to head out on a three-game road trip that takes them up to Binghamton on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m, followed by a back-to-back in Lehigh Valley next weekend.
Three Stars:
1) HER #30 Pheonix Copley (25 saves)
2) HER #22 Stanislav Galiev (GWG)
3) NOR #31 Ryan Faragher (25 saves)
