Norfolk Admirals News Release

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals announced that the American Hockey League (AHL) club signed forward Ty Loney to an amateur tryout contract (ATO).

Loney, 23, concluded his four-year career with the University of Denver following the school's quarterfinal defeat in the NCAA Tournament to Providence. The 6-foot-4, 208-pound winger skated in a total of 152 games for the Pioneers from 2010-15, tallying 39 goals and 50 assists for 89 points, in addition to a plus-minus rating of +15. Loney notched five points this postseason, including a hat trick against Minnesota-Duluth in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) first round, and was a part of the squad that won the inaugural NCHC Championship. Before signing a letter of intent, Loney spent a season and a half with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL where he compiled 46 points (25 goals, 21 assists) in 71 games.

The Admirals and Hershey Bears play the second half of a back-to-back tonight at Scope Arena, set to begin at 7:15 p.m.
