THIS WEEK'S GAMES
Thursday, January 5 vs Houston Aeros @ SBC Center-7:00 p.m.
This will be the seventh meeting (of 12 total) between the two clubs. The Rampage are 1-3-1-1 so far this season against the Minnesota Wild affiliate. San Antonio is 1-2-1-0 against Houston at the SBC Center this year after dropping a 4-3 overtime decision on New Year's Eve. In fact, six out of the last nine meetings at the SBC Center between the two teams have been decided by one goal. The Rampage's only win over the Aeros came at their Oct. 8 home opener. Houston is 9-1 in their last 10 games, winning their last seven games, and lead the West Division and Western Conference with a 25-8-1-1 record and 52 points.
Saturday, January 7 vs Grand Rapids Griffins @ SBC Center-7:00 p.m.
This will be the second and final meeting between the two teams at the SBC Center for the regular season. Grand Rapids defeated the Rampage 6-3 on Oct. 19 in their first of four meetings of the season. The Griffins are riding a seven game (6-0-1-0) point streak entering this week. Grand Rapids holds the second-best winning percentage in the Western Conference at 0.689. They have won the last five meetings at the SBC Center. SHOTS FROM THE POINT
ALL ABOUT PERCENTAGES: This week, the Rampage will face the top two teams with the highest winning percentages. Houston owns a .743 winning percentage and Grand Rapids has a .689 percentage.
DECEMBER TO REMEMBER: The Rampage's 13 points was a point shy from tying their franchise high for the month of December which had been set during the 2002-03 and 2004-05 seasons.
DOS AMIGOS: Left wings Steve Gainey and Martin Sonnenberg had the highest scoring totals for the month of December. Gainey scored eight points (1-7=8) in nine games while Sonnenberg had eight points (4-4=8) in 13 games.
Ice Chips
- PAVING THE WAY: The Rampage's Pavel Brendl has scored two goals and an assist since being traded to Phoenix last week. The Coyotes assigned Brendl to the Rampage after being acquired from the Carolina Hurricanes on Dec. 28 for Krys Kolanos.
- PLAYOFF WATCH: The Rampage are 12 points from tying the fourth and final place slot in the West Division for the AHL Calder Cup Playoffs.
