January 3, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manchester Monarchs News Release
(Manchester, NH) - The Monarchs Care Foundation and the Verizon Wireless Arena are teaming up with the American Red Cross in effort to help decrease the winter shortages. On Tuesday, January 10th, 2006 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. you can help eliminate the shortages by visiting the Verizon Wireless Arena and donating. All blood types are urgently needed.
The traditional post-holiday shortages have been compounded by many devastating storms throughout the country, and increased cold and flu have kept donors away. These factors have resulted in serious shortages in the blood supply over the past several weeks.Inventories of several blood types are at a one-day supply.
This special event blood drive, sponsored by the Monarchs Care Foundation and the Verizon Wireless Arena, could provide some 300-transfusion products to hospital patients who need blood transfusions to save their lives or preserve their health.
Donors will receive one of the following; an official Manchester Monarchs hockey puck, one complimentary voucher to U.S Hot Rod Thunder Nationals or one complimentary voucher to Disney On Ice presents Disney/Pixar's Monsters, Inc, both playing the Verizon Wireless Arena.
Donors may park in the VIP parking lot at the rear of the Verizon Wireless Arena free of charge. The arena's concessionaire, Aramark, will provide snacks for all donors.
For more information on donating blood, please call 1-800-GIVE LIFE.
