Admirals' offense stalls, team returns home to face Lowell

NORFOLK, VA - Last week, Norfolk managed just four goals in three games to come away with one win in three tries. On Wednesday, December 28th, the Admirals fell to the Phantoms 3-1. On Friday, December 30th, Norfolk came from behind to defeat Hershey 2-1 in a shootout. In their final game of 2005 on the 31st, the Ads dropped a 2-1 decision at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The Admirals begin a three-game homestand with a pair of matches against the Lowell Lock Monsters this Friday and Saturday.

STANDINGS
At 15-13-2-2 (34 pts), Norfolk is currently third in the East. The division is led by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (27-3-2-1, 57 pts) followed by Hershey in second (22-7-2-5, 51 pts). Bridgeport (15-18-2-1, 33 pts), Binghamton (14-17-2-2, 32 pts) and Philadelphia (14-18-0-3, 31 pts) are in a logjam behind the Admirals.

TEAM NOTEBOOK
- The Admirals' 2-1 loss to the Penguins on December 31st was their first regulation loss at Wilkes-Barre this season (0-1-1-1).
- Six of the Ads' seven games versus the Pens have been decided by one goal. Four ended with a 3-2 decision and two had a final score of 2-1. The only decision by more than one tally was 3-1 on November 18th.
- Norfolk's 2-1 shootout win over Hershey on December 30th was its first home shootout victory since March 27, 2005 vs. Binghamton.
- The Admirals are now 3-9-2-2 against teams from Pennsylvania this season. They are 12-4-0-0 when facing clubs from outside the Keystone State.
- RW Shawn Thornton was assigned to Norfolk by the Chicago Blackhawks on December 31st.
- On December 29th, G Adam Munro was recalled to Chicago, while D Michal Barinka was re-assigned to Norfolk from the Blackhawks. Additionally, G Mike Brodeur and D Cody Blanshan were recalled from Greenville (ECHL).
