
Colorado Recalls Skladany

Lowell, Mass. - The Lowell Lock Monsters announced that LW Frantisek Skladany has been recalled to the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League. In addition, LW Cody McLeod was reassigned to Lowell from San Diego of the ECHL.
Skladany, 23, has appeared in 21 games with the Lock Monsters since his reassignment from San Diego in the ECHL. The Slovakia native has 1g-4a-5pts and 12 penalty minutes with the Monsters since joining the team on November 16th. He had played in 20 AHL games prior to this season with no experience in the NHL. Skladany was selected by Colorado in the fifth round (#143 overall) in the 2001 Entry Draft and played four seasons at Boston University.
The Lock Monsters have had ten players recalled to the NHL this season, five each for both Carolina and Colorado.
Joining Lowell this week is McLeod, who was reassigned by Colorado to the Monsters from San Diego. McLeod, 21, has played in 16 games with the Gulls, recording four goals and nine points with 48 penalty minutes. The rookie from Binscarth, Manitoba also has a +4 rating with a pair of power play markers. McLeod played four years with the Portland Winter Hawks in the Western Hockey League, finishing last season with 31g-29a-60pts and 195 penalty minutes. He skated with the Providence Bruins and the Lock Monsters in training camp before signing with Colorado and being assigned to San Diego.
The Monsters hit the road for their next four and return to face the Providence Bruins on Saturday, January 14th. The first 2,500 fans will get a Lock Monsters winter cap, courtesy of TD Banknorth. It's also Locks of Love night, and Fantastic Sam's will be on hand trimming hair and collecting donations for Locks of Love - a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss.
