Hershey Bears News Release
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Washington Capitals have recalled forwards Boyd Gordon and Boyd Kane from Hershey of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Gordon, 22, began the season with the Capitals and played nine games before being assigned to Hershey on Oct. 25. Although he did not record any points for the Caps, the 6'1", 201-pound Unity, Saskatchewan, native played over 13 minutes a game and averaged 5:47 of shorthanded ice time, which ranks second among all NHL forwards. With Hershey this season, Gordon has nine goals and 10 assists (19 points) through 29 games and a +5 rating that ranks second among Bears forwards. A first-round draft pick of the Capitals in 2002 (17th overall), Gordon has played 50 games with the Capitals in his career, posting a goal and five assists.
Kane, 27, is an eighth-year pro off to his best start at the AHL level with 11 goals and 14 assists (25 points) through 36 games in Hershey. He ranks tied for fourth on the Bears in goals and tied for fifth in points. A 6'2", 227-pound native of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Kane was signed as a free agent on Aug. 12, 2005. He has appeared in seven NHL games in his career, all with Philadelphia in 2003-04.
The BEARS begin a four-game road trip Friday in Bridgeport, with face-off slated for 7:35 p.m.
