San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - A three-goal third period and a four-point night from Mikko Rantanen lifted the San Antonio Rampage (20-20-7-0) to a 5-2 victory over the Texas Stars (25-18-3-3) in front of 14,135 at the AT&T Center on Friday night, marking the fifth-largest crowd for the team's annual Pink in the Rink game. Rantanen tallied a goal and three assists, his seventh multi-point game of the season, to earn the First Star of the Game. Reid Petryk added two goals, and Dennis Everberg pitched in two assists to earn the Second and Third Star of the Game, respectively.

A power-play goal got Texas on the board first, as Matej Stransky collected a pass from Jason Dickinson and fired the puck past Roman Will to make it 1-0 at 11:54.

The Rampage answered with two straight tallies in a 55 second span, the first coming off the stick of Reid Petryk, who took a pass from Dennis Everberg and skated ahead of the Texas defense on the break before backhanding the puck through the five-hole of Philippe Desrosiers. Maxim Noreau tallied his team-leading seventh power-play goal at 14:37 to give the Silver and Black a 2-1 lead after the first 20 minutes.

Travis Morin scored the lone goal in the middle frame, a shorthanded tally at 7:28, to knot the game at two heading into the final stanza.

It was all Rampage after that, as Garrett Thompson scored a power-play goal, his second of the season, at 6:50 of the third period to give the Rampage back a one-goal lead. Rantanen picked up his 14th tally of the season just past the midway point of the frame, converting off a cross-crease pass from Joey Hishon, who baited Desrosiers before dishing the puck, leaving Rantanen with a wide open look. Petryk's second of the night came on the power play, giving the Silver and Black their third power-play tally on six opportunities with the man advantage and a 5-2 win.

Roman Will finished with 32 saves on 34 shots, and San Antonio held the Stars to one goal on six power-play opportunities.
