
Panthers Recall Regner from Portland

Portland, ME - Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today the recall of defenseman Brent Regner from the Portland Pirates. In a corresponding move, the Pirates have recalled defenseman Josh Brown from the Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL.
Regner, the Pirates captain, a 6-foot, 190 pound defenseman from Westlock, Alberta, has played in all 43 games for Portland this season, scoring two goals and 10 assists for 12 points, to go along with 22 penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating.
This is the first NHL recall for the 26 year-old seventh year pro. Regner was a Fifth Round (137th Overall) selection of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. he has played 432 professional games (430 in the AHL) before his first NHL recall.
Prior to turning pro, Regner played four seasons of major junior hockey with the WHL's Vancouver Giants, winning a Chynoweth Cup in 2006 and a Memorial Cup in 2007.
Regner will be eligible to make his NHL debut tomorrow night at BB&T Center, where the Panthers will host the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Brown, a 6-foot-4, 215 pound defenseman from London, Ontario, joins the Pirates for the third time this season. He's played in one game for Portland, on December 20 in Bridgeport against the Sound Tigers.
With Manchester this season, the 22 year-old rookie has played in 44 games with one goal, 10 assists and 11 points, with 60 penalty minutes and a plus-15 rating.
Selected in the Sixth Round (152nd Overall) by Florida in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Brown was the captain of last season's OHL and Memorial Cup Champion Oshawa Generals. He played a total of four seasons in the OHL with Oshawa before joining the pro ranks this season.
Brown will be eligible to suit up for the Pirates tonight when they host the Hartford Wolf Pack at Cross Insurance Arena.
