Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Undaunted by a series of line-up changes prior to their game on Friday night, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins earned their 30th win of the 2015-16 season with a 4-3 overtime victory against the Springfield Falcons at MassMutual Center.

Anton Zlobin, skating in his season debut with the Penguins, scored once and had an assist, while his new linemate Carter Rowney recorded two assists and the game-winning goal.

It took the Penguins (30-13-1-1) just 20 seconds to score the first goal of the game, when Zlobin and Rowney both assisted on Steve Oleksy's first goal with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Tom Sestito redirected in a shot from the point for a power play goal at 4:24 of the first period, giving the Penguins a 2-0 lead.

Springfield was given the next three power play opportunities, all coming in the opening frame, but was ultimately shut down by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on all three chances.

Steven Delisle got the Falcons on the board 14:03 into the second period, cutting the Penguins' lead to 2-1.

Zlobin scored his first goal of the season 28 ticks into the third period, lifting his team to a 3-1 lead.

The Falcons tied the game, 3-3, after two consecutive goals by Greg Carey coming at 5:57 and 7:39 of the third, respectively.

Just before overtime, Corey Potter was deemed guilty of a puck-over-glass delay of game penalty. The ensuing power play carried over into the extra frame, and Rowney cashed in on that man advantage for the game-winner.

With the win, Penguins goalie Matt Murray improved to 8-0-0-0 all-time against the Springfield Falcons, and his 42-save performance on Friday was the most stops he's made in regulation in his career.

Tending goal for the Falcons, Niklas Treutle made 24 saves on 28 shots.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton hits the ice again on Saturday night, but this time, it will be an ice of a different color. Saturday night's contest against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers is the Penguins' "Pink in the Rink" night. Limited seats are still available for the team's annual breast cancer awareness game.

Game time between the Penguins and Sound Tigers is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.
