February 5, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs (27-10-3-4) return from the All-Star break to take on the Grand Rapids Griffins (24-17-1-1) in the first game of a home-and-home weekend series at the BMO Harris Bank Center at 7 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to help "White Out" the BMO by wearing white apparel to the game, and the IceHogs will help this effort by giving away t-shirts sponsored by Toyota to the first 2,500 fans in the building.

Those 21-and-older can get their weekend started early at the BMO at the Blues Flame Lounge Pre-Game Party. Dan Phelps will be performing while guests enjoy free appetizers and drink specials. Fans with a game ticket must enter through the upper-concourse level entrance on Elm St. near the box office. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. and only the first 150 will be permitted.

Tickets are available for tonight's game and can be purchased online, by calling 815-968-5222, at the BMO Harris Bank Center box office, or at any Ticketmaster location including Walmart.

Tonight's contest will be broadcast live locally on WIFR's Justice Network on 23.3 and online at AHLLive.com. Television coverage kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with the IceHogs Warm Up pre-game show. A free audio feed is available via WXRX.com or by using the new IceHogs app. For instant updates throughout the game, follow the IceHogs on Twitter (@goicehogs).

Rockford will look to carry over their strong performance during the month of January, during which they went 8-2-1-1. Michael Leighton went 8-0-2 with three shutouts to start 2016 en route to being named the AHL Goaltender of the Month, and carries a 13-game unbeaten streak into tonight's contest (9-0-4).

Despite going 1-2-0-0 to start the season versus the Griffins, the IceHogs will have an opportunity to take the lead in the season series, as three of their next four games come versus their Central Division rival.

Mark McNeill enters the contest riding a team season-long nine game point streak, during which he has scored four goals and added 10 assists. Vince Hinostroza also has 10 points (6g-4a) in his last seven contests.

Grand Rapids limped into the All-Star break, losing each of their final five games, but pose a threat to Rockford's seven-game unbeaten streak (5-0-1-1). The Griffins snapped the IceHogs 10-game unbeaten streak on Nov. 18 in a 3-2 win in Grand Rapids.

Robbie Russo leads the Griffins in points against the IceHogs through the first three meetings with five (1g-4a) and is tied for seventh in the league in plus/minus with the IceHogs captain, Jake Dowell, at +21.

Next Home Game: Sunday, Feb. 14 vs. Grand Rapids Griffins at 4 p.m. Rockford faces off against Grand Rapids again on Valentine's Day. The meeting will round up a set of three meetings in 10 nights.
