American Hockey League Extends Agreement with Extenet Systems, Inc.
Published on February 5, 2016 under American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass./CHICAGO ... The American Hockey League has announced a renewed agreement with ExteNet Systems, Inc., the leading independent provider of distributed networks enabling outdoor and indoor wireless connectivity, as the league's official and exclusive arena wireless network provider.
ExteNet has served as the AHL's wireless network provider since 2013, working with AHL teams and venues to create opportunities for building and operating distributed networks in AHL arenas that enable 3G, 4G LTE and Wi-Fi based wireless services.
ExteNet currently provides advanced mobile connectivity via multi-carrier distributed networks at numerous AHL venues, such as the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, R.I. (home of the Providence Bruins), Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn. (home of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers) and the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa (home of the Iowa Wild).
"We're thrilled to continue our partnership with ExteNet. Bringing a world-class in-venue experience for our fans is of utmost importance for us. ExteNet understands the needs of our teams and fans, and works extensively to enhance and deliver networks in time for major events, while remaining a key resource for all our wireless communications infrastructure needs," said Chris Nikolis, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for the AHL.
"Fans are increasingly using more data and video at sporting events than ever before. Content sharing at sporting events outpaces network capacity requirements, putting tremendous strain on the network. With ExteNet, AHL arenas are poised to accommodate that wireless data and video demand, delivering the highest-order fan experience. We're excited to continue this partnership with the AHL and help improve wireless broadband connectivity for the teams and fans," said Jon Davis, Vice President of Business Development for ExteNet.
In November 2015, ExteNet announced a $1.4 billion recapitalization led by Digital Bridge and Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners, to help accelerate its growth and ensure continued leadership in distributed networks that are utilized by wireless carriers to provide advanced wireless service for their customers. ExteNet was also one of only 10 companies to win the 2015 Chicago Innovation Awards.
ExteNet's renewed agreement with the AHL is an example of the company's continued growth and innovation in the wireless infrastructure industry.
