Grant Scores 22nd, Ties League Lead in Heat Defeat

February 5, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Stockton Heat News Release

San Diego, Calif. - Derek Grant scores a power-play goal in the second period to pull the Stockton Heat within one of the San Diego Gulls, but San Diego is able to hold on and defeat the Heat by a score of 4-2 Friday night. Grant's goal is good for his 22nd on the season, giving him not only a single-season career-high, but a share of the league-lead in the category as well. Turner Elson also scored for the Heat, giving him six goals this season and newly assigned forward Mason Raymond earned his first point in a Heat sweater during his debut for Stockton; however, Gulls goaltender Anton Khudobin proved difficult to solve and the Heat were unable to extend their winning streak to season-high six games. The Stockton Heat will have little time to reflect, as they make the short trip north to Bakersfield and face the Condors Saturday night at Rabobank Arena.
