San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 11, 2014) - Rocco Grimaldi scored his first professional goal in overtime to lift the San Antonio Rampage (2-0-0-0) to a 3-2 win over the Oklahoma City Barons (0-0-1-0) on Saturday night at the AT&T Center. Vincent Trocheck and Brett Olson each scored for the Rampage and defenseman Blake Parlett added two assists.
San Antonio struck first, as Parlett skated behind the net and centered a pass to Brett Olson who punched it in for his first goal in a Rampage uniform. Ryan Hamilton knotted the game at one for the Barons, taking a pass from Iiro Pakarinen, who picked the puck off of the boards in the corner and sent it to Hamilton in front of the net for the score.
Trocheck scored his first goal of the season midway through the second period. The Rampage got the puck back on the forecheck, and Trocheck's backhand shot from the slot beat Richard Bachman to make it 2-1.
Oklahoma City answered less than three minutes later, as Pakarinen put a rebound past Michael Houser to knot the game at two, marking the first even strength goal San Antonio has allowed this season.
Tied at two after regulation, the Rampage and the Barons headed to overtime. Grimaldi, skating into the zone on a break, buried a pass from Drew Shore to secure the win for San Antonio.
LINEUP NOTES
Saturday night marked the season debuts for forwards Ryan Martindale and Andrew Yogan and defenseman Shane O'Brien. Michael Houser made his first start of the season, finishing with 23 saves on 25 shots.
KEY STAT
After combining for 38 penalty minutes against the Iowa Wild on Friday night, the Rampage and the Barons combined for just 10 on Saturday. San Antonio stopped the Barons on three of their four power play opportunities and have allowed just one even strength goal so far this season.
QUOTABLE
"We started out strong again. We want to establish a real presence at home and let teams know that when they come here, it's going to be a tough place to play. I thought the guys stuck to the game plan real well and when we're playing like that, it's a dangerous team to play against." - Coach Tom Rowe
UP NEXT
