Toronto Marlies Drop Opener to Utica Comets 2-1

Toronto opened the scoring with captain Trevor Smith recording his first goal of the season while Connor Brown, with the assist, recorded his first AHL point. Utica responded with their own goal on the 2 man advantage from Alexandre Grenier. The second period saw the decisive goal scored by Utica center Dustin Jeffery while Cal O'Reilly picked up his second assist and Alexandre Grenier picked up his second point of the game. A total of 55 penalty minutes were handed out in the second period (35 TOR/20 UTC). The third period saw no goals from either side.

- Antoine Bibeau in his first professional start made 32 saves in the losing effort.

- Shots totaled 34-23 in favour of Utica.

- Both Utica goals came on the 2 man advantage (Utica PP: 2/7, Toronto PP: 0/4)

The next Marlies home game is tomorrow, Sunday October 12, at 3:00p.m. vs. Utica .
