San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (December 5, 2011) - Fire and ice collide when the San Antonio Rampage honor local firefighters and law enforcement officers at their 8th annual Salute to the Badges Night on Saturday, Dec. 10 as they host the Peoria Rivermen at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
Prior to the game, the Rampage will host a bike rodeo in the Courtyard at 4 p.m. to provide youth with road safety tips in coordination with the Salute to the Badges theme night. Participants will make their way through specific stations, which will present certain safety tasks and lessons taught by city officers.
Salute to the Badges Night is a joint effort between the Rampage and local fire and law enforcement departments to raise money and awareness for the Little Fighter Foundation. The Rampage will wear specially designed jerseys that will be auctioned off to the public following the game with proceeds benefitting the Little Fighter Foundation.
San Antonio SWAT team will repel from the rafters to the ice to deliver the ceremonial puck and throughout the night the Rampage will honor service members from local fire and law enforcement departments.
Various fire and police vehicles will be on display prior to the game including an antique fire truck courtesy of the San Antonio Fire Department (SAFD). The SAFD mascot, Sparky, will also be on hand. Children 12 and under can register their fingerprint at the Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) table on the concourse.
In addition, the full Rampage team will train alongside local area San Antonio Fire cadets on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. at the San Antonio Fire Academy to help promote Salute to the Badges Night. The team will go through exercises that San Antonio area fire fighters must go through for training, including: carrying water hoses up and down four flights of stairs, fire victim location exercise in dark room and a physical fitness course.
Tickets start at $10 and can be purchased by calling a Rampage representative at 210.444.5554 or online at sarampage.com.
