Hershey Bears News Release
The American Hockey League announced today that HERSHEY BEARS center Keith Aucoin has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 4, 2011.
Aucoin notched eight points (two goals, six assists) in four games to extend his lead in the AHL scoring race and help HERSHEY gain a share of first place in the East Division with a 3-1-0-0 record on the week.
Aucoin began his week by assisting on both HERSHEY goals in a 4-2 loss at Connecticut on Tuesday night. He then recorded three assists in a 4-1 win at Syracuse on Friday, and his assist on the first BEARS goal of the night vs. Portland on Saturday helped light a spark in a 7-1 victory. Aucoin then scored two goals in a span of 1:59 on Sunday, propelling HERSHEY to a 3-2 win at Bridgeport.
Aucoin, who has tallied 12 points during his current five-game scoring streak, has recorded at least three points in a game as many times (four) as he has been held scoreless this season.
A native of Waltham, Mass., Aucoin leads the AHL with 30 assists and 36 points in 23 games this season. The five-time AHL All-Star, two-time Calder Cup winner and former league MVP and scoring champion (2009-10) has moved into 19th place on the league's career scoring list with 743 points in 653 games over 11 seasons, making him the highest-scoring U.S.-born player in league history. Aucoin also ranks eighth all-time with 525 career assists.
In recognition of his achievement, Aucoin will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Bears home game.
The BEARS will visit the Connecticut Whale on Friday, December 9 at 7:00 PM. The team returns to Giant Center to host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday, December 10 at 7:00 PM. The first 5,000 fans will receive a flashlight courtesy of Capital BlueCross. Individual tickets for this and all regular-season home games are on sale now by calling (717) 508-BEAR, or by visiting ticketmaster.com.
HERSHEY BEARS season ticket plans are also on sale now by calling (717) 508-BEAR, with many different flexible plans still available. Season ticket plans start as low as $160.
