Panthers Recall Jacob Markstrom from Rampage

SUNRISE, FL (December 5, 2011) - Florida Panthers Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today goaltender Jacob Markstrom has been recalled from San Antonio (AHL).

Markstrom, 21, has played in six games with the Panthers this season going 2-3-1 with a .928 save percentage. He made his first career NHL start on Oct. 18 at Washington, stopping 29-of-31 shots in a 3-0 loss to the Capitals. He earned his first career NHL win on Oct. 22 vs. the New York Islanders, turning away 18 shots in a third period relief appearance. Markstrom stopped 40-of-41 shots to earn his first complete game win on Oct. 24 at Montreal.

The Gavle, Sweden native has posted a 2-4-0 record with the San Antonio Rampage this year. Markstrom was drafted by Florida in the first round (31st overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

The Rampage host the Houston Aeros tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
