Abbotsford Heat News Release

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Flames announced today they have assigned Stefan Meyer to Farjestad BK of the Swedish Elite League.

"We are pleased to have worked with Farjestads BK and President of Hockey Operations/General Manager Hakan Loob and with Stefan to find a European opportunity for him for the balance of the year," said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. "Stefan played 16 games with us last year in Calgary and was a quality call-up veteran player. This year, due to the number of veterans we have on our club in Abbotsford and the AHL Development Rule, it was necessary to look for another option for Stefan."

Meyer has played six games with the Abbotsford Heat this season and split last season dressing for 16 games with the Flames registering two assists and 17 penalty minutes and 42 games with the Heat netting 12 goals and five assists.

The NEXT HEAT HOME GAMES are December 9 and 10 vs. the Lake Erie Monsters (NHL affiliate: Colorado Avalanche)! For tickets to these games, please contact me or click here .

David van der Gulik of Abbotsford is a local boy who plays on the Monsters.
