
Penguins Recall Defenseman Alexandre Picard from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defenseman Alexandre Picard from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.
Picard, 26, will be appearing in his third stint of the season with Pittsburgh. He has played in seven NHL games this season, going scoreless with a plus-5 rating while averaging 12:51 minutes per game. Picard has finished plus or even in six of his seven games.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Picard has spent the majority of the season with WBS, collecting seven points (1G-6A) and a plus-8 rating in 14 games. Picard appeared in two games for WBS this weekend, notching two assists in a 4-1 defeat of the Portland Pirates on Friday night.
Picard, who hails from Gatineau, QC, has appeared in 243 career NHL regular-season games for the Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators, Carolina Hurricanes, Montreal Canadiens and Penguins, collecting 19 goals, 46 assists and 65 points.
Picard, who was originally drafted by Philadelphia in the third round (85th overall) of the 2003 NHL Draft, played four seasons of junior hockey with Halifax and Cape Breton of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 2001-05. Picard posted 122 points (31G-91A) and a plus-88 rating in 255 QMJHL contests.
