San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 18, 2014) - Overtime and a three-round shootout weren't enough to determine a winner between the San Antonio Rampage (10-6-0-0) and the Oklahoma City Barons (6-4-3-1) on Tuesday. Logan Shaw's goal in the sixth round stood as the game-winner, as the Rampage defeated the Barons for the fifth time in as many meetings this season.

Shaw also notched a power-play goal in the second period, and Shane O'Brien and Bobby Butler each tallied for the Rampage. Dan Ellis finished with 31 saves on 34 shots faced, including a huge save on Matthew Ford in the final round of the skills competition.

For the second time in the season series, the Rampage allowed the opening goal of the game, as Ford got the Barons on the board just 2:28 into the first period. The Rampage evened the score just past the midway point of the stanza when Bobby Butler buried Brett Olson's centering pass from behind the net.

Shane O'Brien scored his fourth of the season with a cannon from the point with less than two minutes left in the period. The goal was verified with video, as it originally appeared to ricochet off a pipe and out of the net. With the tally, O'Brien is now tied for fifth among AHL defenseman in points.

Each team found the back of the net within the last two minutes of the second period. Shaw poked in a rebound off a Mark Mancari shot to give San Antonio a 3-1 lead only to see the Barons counter less than a minute later with a goal from Ryan Hamilton. The Silver and Black took a 3-2 lead into the second intermission.

The Barons opened the third-period scoring with a Jason Williams power-play goal to knot the game at three and ultimately send the Rampage and Oklahoma City into overtime for the second time this season. A scoreless overtime never reached the point of 3-on-3, as the Rampage and Oklahoma City played four minutes of nonstop hockey after the 3:00 mark of the period.

Drew Shore, Garrett Wilson and Shaw each scored in the skills competition and Ellis stopped 4-of-6 shooters to secure the win.

QUOTABLE

"We did a lot of good things. We're still learning how to play a complete 60 minutes. I thought our guys did a good job of burying their chances when they got them [in the shootout]." - Head Coach Tom Rowe

MVP

Logan Shaw tallied his second power-play goal in as many games to give San Antonio a 3-1 lead in the second period. Shaw also buried the puck in the sixth round of the skills competition to secure the Rampage's second shootout win of the season.

Dan Ellis stood tall in net, finishing with 31 saves on 34 shots and coming up with some huge stops late in the game and in extra time.

LINEUP NOTES

Ellis made his 10th start of the season in goal, and the Rampage stuck with the same line combinations that had carried them to four straight wins entering Tuesday's game. Blake Parlett was a healthy scratch, continuing coach Tom Rowe's defensive rotation.
