Binghamton Senators News Release
LAST WEEK...
Friday, Nov. 14: Binghamton 5, Norfolk 2
Shots: Binghamton 31, Norfolk 37
PP: Binghamton 0 for 3, Norfolk 1 for 3
Binghamton traveled to Virginia Friday night for the first of back-to-back contests versus its East Division rival the Norfolk Admirals. The B-Sens shook off an early 2-1 first period deficit en route to its first multi-goal victory of the season, 5-2.
David Pacan gave the hosts the 1-0 lead 6:11 into the first when he beat the B-Sens Scott Greenham, who made his second start of the season in net for Binghamton, unassisted for his first tally of the season. Max McCormick's first professional goal just shy of the 15 minute mark of the period made it 1-1 before a late power-play goal from Louis Leblanc gave the hosts a 2-1 advantage heading into the first intermission.
Danny New drew the B-Sens even with his first goal of the year 13:52 into the second which proved to be the lone tally of the period.
Despite being outshot 12-8 over the final 20 minutes of play, the B-Sens managed to log three unanswered goals on its way to a 5-2 win. Alex Guptill netted the eventual game-winner 2:08 into the third before McCormick added breathing room for Binghamton with his second of the night just past the midway point of the frame. Jean-Gabriel Pageau's empty-net tally with just over 90 seconds remaining moved the score to 5-2.
Greenham stopped 35 of 37 shots faced for his second win in as many starts this season. Norfolk's Igor Bobkov allowed four goals on 30 shots faced in the loss.
Saturday, Nov. 15: Binghamton 2, Norfolk 3
Shots: Binghamton 39, Norfolk 34
PP: Binghamton 0 for 1, Norfolk 1 for 3
For the fifth time this season, the B-Sens failed to make it back-to-back victories as they stumbled 3-2 Saturday in Norfolk. Binghamton carried a 2-1 lead heading into the final 20 minutes of play, but the Admirals tallied two third period goals to salvage a weekend split with its division rivals.
Nic Kerdiles gave Norfolk the 1-0 lead just shy of the 12-minute mark of the first when he redirected a shot from Leblanc on the power play past the B-Sens Andrew Hammond for his third goal of the year. That was the only goal of the first as Hammond stopped 19 of 20 shots faced in the period to head to the locker room down 1-0.
Shane Prince evened the score 1-1 2:44 into the second with his fourth goal of the year. Prince took a stretch pass from Guptill and managed to get behind the Admirals' defense before beating Norfolk's Yann Danis high. Binghamton grabbed its lone lead of the contest off an Alex Grant slap shot that maneuvered through a crowded crease and found the back of the net at 12:36 of the period.
Brendan Bell scored 5:47 into the third before Leblanc gave the Admirals the lead for good with less than eight minutes remaining to move the score to 3-2.
Hammond stopped 31 of 34 shots faced in his 13th start in net this season for Binghamton. Danis, who made his first appearance of the season, stopped 37 of 39 for the victory.
