
Pirates Sign Trivino, Mannino from ECHL

Saco, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced that they have signed forward Corey Trivino and goalie Peter Mannino to Professional Tryout Contracts.
Trivino, a 6-foot-1, 193 pound center from Toronto, Ontario, joins the Pirates from the Florida Everblades of the ECHL. He is the reigning Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week after scoring four goals, two assists, and six points in three games the week of November 10. The 24 year-old third year pro was also a plus-6 during that three-game period.
In five games overall with Florida this season, Trivino has scored 6-3-9.
Trivino played 11 games for Portland last season while on a professional tryout contract. He notched four assists in the only stint of his AHL career.
Prior to turning pro, Trivino played four seasons of NCAA Division I hockey with the Boston University Terriers.
Mannino, a 6-foot-1, 195 pound goalie from Farmington Hills, Michigan, comes to Portland from the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL. The 30 year-old appeared in one game so far this season, posting a 0-1-0 record, a 1.66 goals against average and a 0.944 save percentage.
Mannino, a seventh year pro, joins the Pirates for the second time. He played 15 games for Portland during the 2011-12 season. During that time, Mannino was 8-6-1 with a 3.44 GAA and a 0.895 save percentage. He also has played in the AHL for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (2008-09), Chicago Wolves (2009-11), St. John's IceCaps (2011-12), Manchester Monarchs (2012-13), and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (2013-14).
He has also played in six NHL games with the New York Islanders, Atlanta Thrashers, and Winnipeg Jets. Before he turned pro, Mannino played four seasons of college hockey with the University of Denver Pioneers. He was in net when the Pioneers won the 2005 NCAA Division I Men's National Championship in his freshman year.
Both Trivino and Mannino will join the Pirates in time for their game tomorrow night at Mohegan Sun Arena against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:05 p.m.. The "Voice of the Pirates," Jeff Mannix has the call of the game beginning with the Pirates Pregame Show at 6:45 on the WPEI Portland Pirates Radio Network.
The Pirates return home to play two games Thanksgiving Week at Cross Insurance Arena. The Pirates host the Worcester Sharks on Wednesday, November 26 and the Providence Bruins on Black Friday, November 28.
