San Antonio Rampage News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, MI (Oct. 17, 2015) - Calvin Pickard made 35 saves to lead the San Antonio Rampage (2-0-1-0) to a 4-0 shutout of the Grand Rapids Griffins (0-4-0-0) in front of 3,863 at Van Andel Arena on Saturday night. With the victory, the Rampage sweep the two-game series against the Griffins. Dennis Everberg finished with a team-high two goals, and Andrew Agozzino notched a goal and two assists to earn the Second Star of the Game.
Everberg scored the first of his two goals to get the Rampage on the board, burying the rebound of a Zach Redmond shot to give the Rampage a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute of play. San Antonio has now scored the opening goal in each of their first three starts this season.
Less than a minute later, another Redmond blast resulted in the second goal of the game for the Silver and Black. Up 2-0, the Rampage kept the pressure on, scoring their third goal in a 1:46 minute span. Agozzino collected a rebound and buried it to extend San Antonio's lead to three and spark the Griffins to pull goalie Tom McCollum for Jared Coreau.
The Rampage and the Griffins played scoreless hockey through the second stanza and most of the third, before Everberg tallied an empty-net goal to secure the 4-0 win.
Pickard recorded 35 saves to pick up his first shutout of the season and earn the First Star of the Game.
