Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill. - After starting their season with a west coast swing last weekend, the Rockford IceHogs (1-1-0-0) return to the friendly confines of the BMO Harris Bank Center tonight at 7 p.m to play the Texas Stars (2-0-0-0). The matchup promises to be an exciting rematch of last season's Western Conference Quarterfinals, when the IceHogs swept the defending Calder Cup Champion Stars in three games.

Fans can buy tickets online at www.IceHogs.com, over the phone at (815) 968-5222, at the BMO Harris Bank Center box office, or at any Ticketmaster Outlet including Walmart locations. Saturday's matchup will also be broadcast live locally on WIFR's Justice Network on 23.3, or online at AHLLive.com. Television coverage kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with the IceHogs Warm Up pre-game show. A free audio feed is available via WXRX.com. For instant updates throughout the game, follow the IceHogs on Twitter (@goicehogs).

The first 5,000 fans through the gates will receive a 2015-16 calendar courtesy of Mulligan's Pub and Grill. The calendar features former IceHogs who went on to win the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Fans can catch a glimpse of the team's emerging stars tonight, including Tanner Kero, who recorded two goals and one assist last weekend to continue his scoring tear at the AHL level. Since joining the IceHogs following his collegiate career at Michigan Tech, Kero has notched goals in six of his eight regular season games. Newly-appointed Captain Brandon Mashinter is two assists short of 100 in his AHL career.

The IceHogs split last weekend's decisions, taking the season opener 4-2 from the San Jose Barracuda before falling 7-0 to the Stockton Heat. Rockford's all-time goal leader Jeremy Morin had a goal and two assists in the win over San Jose, extending his goal total to 82 and assist total to 79 in 210 career games with the team.

Last season, the IceHogs went 4-0-0-0 against the Stars in the regular season before sweeping them 3-0 in the playoffs. Rockford holds a 15-9-3-1 all-time record versus Texas.

Next Home Game: Sunday, Oct. 18 vs. Texas. Game time: 4 p.m. The IceHogs will celebrate Eddie Olczyk Night, honoring the Chicago Blackhawks broadcaster and U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member before the game. Also, there will be a Skate with the Hogs after the game which will be open to any fan that brings their skates with them to the game.
