Ontario Reign Game Preview: Reign Close Three-Game Road Trip Tonight in Winnipeg

Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), wrap up a season-opening three-game road trip tonight as they battle the Manitoba Moose at 5:00 PT at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Tonight is the second of four meetings between the two teams this season.

Reign Cage Moose:

The Reign took on the Moose last Thursday at MTS Centre and skated away with a 4-1 victory. Forward Michael Mersch scored twice and goaltender Peter Budaj made 16 saves for his second win of the season. Box Score

Schultz Grabs 100:

Defenseman Jeff Schultz picked up his 100th professional assist Thursday on Mersch's empty-net goal late in the third period.

Making a Splash:

After appearing in his first professional game last Saturday against Bakersfield, defenseman Kurtis MacDermid earned his first professional point on Thursday with an assist on forward Justin Auger's goal in the second period.

Old East Division Rivals Collide:

Last season, the Reign (as the Manchester Monarchs) and Moose (as the St. John's IceCaps) met 10 times with the Monarchs earning a 6-1-3-0 record. Over the last five seasons, the Reign/Monarchs went 20-14-3-0 against the Moose/IceCaps.
