San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (March 17, 2015) - The San Antonio Rampage set a new franchise record with nine goals on Tuesday night, beating the Charlotte Checkers 9-3 in front of 4,132 at the AT&T Center.
Andrew Yogan picked up his first multi-point game of the season, notching two goals and an assist to earn the First Star of the Game. Brett Olson also tallied two goals, and Shane O'Brien added a goal and two assists.
The Rampage struck with two quick goals to open the scoring. Yogan's wraparound goal at 1:18 and Mark Mancari's tally less than two minutes later gave San Antonio an early 2-0 lead and prompted Charlotte to put Drew MacIntyre in goal to replace John Muse.
The Checkers closed the gap to one late in the frame when Brendan Woods flipped in a rebound off a Trevor Carrick shot, but Blake Parlett's one-timer from just inside the blue line extended San Antonio's lead to two goals once again with 1:30 left in the opening frame.
Mike Cornell opened the second stanza with a goal to bring Charlotte within one and make the score 3-2 in favor of the Rampage. John McFarland picked up his ninth goal of the season later in the period, skating across the crease and putting the puck past the outstretched pad of MacIntyre to give the Silver and Black a 4-2 lead at the second intermission.
The Rampage kicked off the third period with three quick strikes, starting with Olson's power-play tally just 2:09 into the frame. O'Brien and Yogan scored minutes later, potting goals just 38 seconds apart to bring San Antonio's lead to five. With the secondary assist on Yogan's second goal of the game, Tony Turgeon recorded his first professional point.
Woods notched his second goal of the game to make it 7-3, but the Rampage struck again on the power play, as Matt Corrente's first goal in a Rampage uniform gave San Antonio an 8-3 lead at 14:34. Olson's second of the game and 13th of the season sealed a 9-3 win for San Antonio.
The Silver and Black finished 3-for-6 on the power-play, and Michael Houser made 24 saves on 27 shots.
KEY STAT
Greg Zanon skated in his 300th AHL game and contributed an assist on Parlett's first-period goal.
Tuesday's win marked the third time this season the Rampage have scored eight or more goals in a game, a feat they had previously only accomplished once prior to the 2014-15 season.

Mancari, Corban Knight, who was a healthy scratch in San Antonio's game on Saturday, and Olson skated as the Rampage's top line while the other three lines remained unchanged from Saturday's win over Lake Erie.
Garrett Wilson and Logan Shaw were healthy scratches.
