Norfolk Adds Two to Roster

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals have signed defenseman Brandon Montour to an amateur tryout contract (ATO) and Robert Czarnik to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Montour, 20, will join the Admirals after a season with the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. The 6-foot, 190-pounder appeared in 21 games this season, and tallied three goals and 17 assists for a total of 2 0 points. The Oshweken, Ontario native finished with a plus-minus rating of minus-6 and 30 penalty minutes. Montour also played 17 games for the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League (USHL). He registered six goals and 21 points. In 2013-14 for Waterloo, Montour earned the league's Player of the Year honor as well as the Defenseman of the Year award for leading all blueliners in assists (48) and points (62). Anaheim drafted Montour 55 th overall during the second round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He signed a three-year entry-level deal with Anaheim yesterday.

Czarnik, 25, comes to Norfolk from ECHL Ontario. The Detroit, Michigan local was pres ent in 21 games with the Reign and recorded three goals and four helpers . He also dressed for the Indy Fuel and played 10 more contests for them this season than Ontario. In those 31 outings, Czarnik posted 17 goals and 30 points. In 135 AHL games, Czarnik has 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 career points.

The Admirals will continue their extended road trip in Albany to take on the Devils in a mid-week matchup on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
