Grand Rapids, Mich. - Mike Bishai scored a goal and an assist in a five-minute, 10-second span, but the American Hockey League's West Division-leading Grand Rapids Griffins managed a 4-2 win in the Rampage's road finale.
Bishai and right winger Pavel Brendl assisted on defenseman Matt Jones' second goal of his rookie season at 7:12 in the third period. Jones' goal snapped Jimmy Howard's third shutout bid of the season.
Grand Rapids jumped on the board early scoring just 22 seconds into the game and climbed to a 3-0 lead by 3:32 into the final stanza.
Bishai brought the Rampage within one, at 3-2, at 12:22 of the period as David Cornacchia and Jakub Koreis assisted on Bishai's 13th goal of the season.
Griffins' Tomas Kopecky, who scored the game's first goal, scored his third point of the game with an empty-net goal with 1:03 remaining to help Grand Rapids secure the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy and the best record in the AHL for the 2005-06 regular season.
The Rampage conclude their season with a pair of home games against the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights beginning tomorrow at 7 p.m.
