The Iowa Stars travel to Peoria, Illinois for game one of a home-and-home series with the Peoria Rivermen on Friday night. Game time from Carver Arena is 7:30 PM. With a win tonight, or if the game goes into overtime, the Stars will have clinched a spot in the West Division portion of the 2006 Calder Cup Playoffs. Iowa can also clinch this spot if the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights suffer any type of loss (regulation or overtime) in Houston tonight--- The Rivermen hold the eighth-best home record in the AHL, posting a 25-12-0-2 mark. Overall, the Rivermen have a record of 46-25-3-4 and can fall no lower than third in the standings. They still have a chance to move into second place as their 99 points are just three points behind Houston--- The Rivermen have posted a record of 8-2 in their last 10 games, and are currently in a 3-0 run--- Jon DiSalvatore leads Peoria with 66 overall points, via 21 goals and 45 assists--- Toby Petersen paces the Stars against Peoria with 10 points in eight games: 8(4/6/10). Meanwhile, both Mike Mottau and Mike Glumac both have six points against Iowa: (2/4/6) and (1/5/6)--- Saturday is FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT at the Iowa Stars. The Stars will be giving away four trips for two to Las Vegas. The players will also be participating in a shirts off-our-back giveaway. Various other prizes will also be given out throughout the night. In all, the Stars will be giving away prizes in excess of $15,000!

The Stars and Houston Aeros wrap-up the regular season on Sunday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena at 5:05 PM. Sunday is Kids' Appreciation Day at the Iowa Stars and a 4 for $40 ticket special. Fans can purchase four $21 tickets for just $40. The first 1,000 kids will receive a plastic egg with the first 500 kids also receiving an Iowa Stars pennant. Inside the plastic egg will be a free Kids' Admission to the Des Moines Aquatic Facility courtesy of the Des Moines Parks & Recreation Center. Some of those eggs will also have an additional special prize--- The Aeros are in second place in the West Division with a record of 48-23-3- 3, 102 points. They still have a chance to catch Milwaukee, 104 points, for the first spot in the West Division. Houston is 3-4-2-1 in their last 10 games. Their last game saw them post as 4-1 win over Omaha on April 11th. Rookie Patrick O'Sullivan was the recipient of the Red Garrett Memorial Award as the AHL's Top Rookie. The first year left winger leads all rookies in points and is fifth overall in the entire League.
