Manchester, N.H. - The Manchester Monarchs (42-30-3-4) scored the first three goals of the game to take a 4-1 win over the Lowell Lock Monsters (28-36-6-8) at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night in the final road game of the season for the Monsters. Lowell finishes the season 13-21-2-4 on the road.

Despite a strong opening frame by the Lock Monsters, it was the home team that took the advantage into the dressing room through 20 minutes. Lowell outshot the Manchester 16-7 in the first, but Manchester had the only goal, at 17:28. Noah Clarke scored his 14th of the season for the Monarchs. A pair of matching roughing minors midway through the first seemed to foreshadow some rough stuff as the night went on, as 10 of the 14 penalties in the game were roughing or fighting calls.

Manchester pushed their lead to 2-0 at 12:13 with a goal by Matt Ryan. A moment after the lamp was lit, Scott Kelman from the Monsters engaged in a heated battle with Richard Seeley, and the two headed to the box. Kelman was assessed an extra minor in the engagement, and it was on that power play that Manchester made it 3-0. Joe Rullier blasted home his eighth of the season with one tick left on the man advantage for the Monarchs. Kelman got into it again later in the frame, this time with Doug Nolan, and the two served fighting majors that carried into the third.

David Gove continued his hot hand by scoring early in the third for Lowell. He hit the 20-goal plateau for the first time in his career at 3:34, and Keith Aucoin set it up for his team-leading 82nd point. While the Monsters held the Monarchs to just two shots in the third, Manchester extended the lead with a rebound tally by Tim Jackman at 15:37 for the final tally. The regulation win was the first for Manchester on home ice in this series, as Lowell has gone 2-1-0-2 at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The final meeting of the year is tomorrow, with Lowell holding a 4-2-1-2 in the series.

The Monsters host the back end of this home-and-home with the Monarchs on Saturday, April 15th. Game time is 7:35 p.m. On Sunday, Lowell will put the finishing touches on the 2005-06 campaign with a 4:05 p.m. match against the Providence Bruins.
