Rampage Host Third Annual Pink in the Rink Night on February 1
January 17, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL)
San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (January 17, 2013) - The San Antonio Rampage will host their third annual Pink in the Rink Night, presented by the Cancer Therapy & Research Center, on Friday, Feb. 1, when they face off against the Rockford IceHogs at 7:30 p.m. The club hopes to sell-out the AT&T Center for the second straight year while surpassing last year's funds raised for breast health awareness.
Fans will have a unique opportunity to see their Rampage team compete on ice dyed pink in honor of breast health awareness. Last season, the Rampage set a new franchise record when a sold-out crowd of more than 16,000 came out to watch the Silver and Black compete on the pink ice.
The Rampage will wear custom pink ribbon-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off to the public immediately following the game. A portion of the proceeds from the auction and ticket sales will benefit breast health awareness efforts. To date, the annual Pink in the Rink games have raised nearly $75,000 to help in the fight against breast cancer.
"Cancer touches everyone's life in one way or another," said Rampage team captain, Nolan Yonkman. "This game is small way for me and my teammates to show our support for breast cancer survivors and let them know that they are not alone in this fight."
On the Tuesday prior to the game (Jan. 29), the Rampage will invite local breast cancer survivors for a Survivor Skate at 7 p.m. The Survivor Skate, which will take place on the newly unveiled pink ice, will give the Rampage players an opportunity to show their support in the fight against breast cancer while getting to know local survivors.
During the week of Jan. 28 - Feb. 1, Rampage players and Spurs Sports & Entertainment staff will partake in "pink" activities to help raise awareness for cause. Hockey fans are invited to join Rampage players and staff for a happy hour at Rosario's Restaurant y Cantina from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31. Rosario's is partnering with the Rampage to donate 10 percent of all happy hour food and drink sales to breast health awareness. Rampage players will help serve food and drinks in appreciation of the public's support.
The game will be televised on FOX Sports Southwest with Rampage play-by-play broadcaster Dan Weiss and Spurs television host and in-game reporter Andrew Monaco calling the action live from the AT&T Center.
Like all Friday night Rampage games, the Pink in the Rink game will feature a KZEP Dollar Drink Night where fans can get draft beer or fountain soda for only $1.
Pink in the Rink shirts will be on sale at the Rampage's next home game on Friday, Jan. 25th. The profits from the shirts will benefit breast health awareness and the Silver & Black Give Back youth programs.
The Rampage also will be featuring a special ticket offer for the Pink in the Rink game. If fans purchase a ticket to Pink in the Rink, they will get an upcoming Rampage Sunday game for free.
Tickets for Pink in the Rink, and all remaining homes games, start at $10 and can be purchased at the AT&T Center Southeast Box Office, by calling a Rampage representative at 210.444.5554 or online at sarampage.com.
