Stanley Cup-Winner Kent Huskins Returns to Norfolk

NORFOLK - The Norfolk Admirals have signed veteran defenseman Kent Huskins to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO), Admirals Assistant General Manager Bob Ferguson announced today.
Huskins, 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, has appeared in 299 career NHL games with Anaheim, San Jose and St. Louis, scoring 13 goals and 67 points, with 169 penalty minutes (PIM) over six seasons. A Stanley Cup Champion with Anaheim in 2006-07, Huskins has appeared in 48 career NHL playoff games and has only missed the playoffs once in a six-year NHL career. Huskins spent the 2011-12 season with St. Louis, netting two goals and seven points with 10 penalty minutes and a +9 rating in 25 games with the Blues.
A 33-year-old native of Almonte, Ontario, Huskins has appeared in 408 career American Hockey League games - including 145 games with the Norfolk Admirals from 2001-2003. In his AHL career with Norfolk, San Antonio, Manitoba and Portland, Huskins scored 30 goals, recorded 123 points with 262 PIM and a +35 rating. He has also played in 45 career AHL playoff games in which he netted five goals and 16 points with 30 penalty minutes.
Huskins will return to the city in which he made his professional debut (Norfolk) and to the organization in which he made his NHL debut (Anaheim). This will be the first time since the 2006-07 season that Huskins will play in the American Hockey League.
Drafted by Chicago in the 6th round (156th overall) in 1998, Huskins played four collegiate seasons with Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. Huskins appeared in 170 games with the Golden Knights, recording 15 goals and 78 points with 126 PIM.
The Admirals return to Scope tomorrow and Saturday nights for a weekend series against the St. John's Ice Caps. Saturday night is the sixth annual Pink in the Rink to benefit the Tidewater affiliate of Susan G. Komen For the Cure.
