St. John's IceCaps News Release

The Winnipeg Jets are proud to announce that defenceman Zach Redmond was selected to attend his second straight AHL All-Star Classic. He will represent the Eastern Conference in Providence, RI from January 27-28, 2013.

In 36 games with the IceCaps this season, the sophomore rearguard has 17 points and is tied for the team lead in goals (eight) and power play goals (four), and leads the club in shots on goal (95).

The native of Traverse City, Michigan has now been chosen to participate in the AHL All-Star Classic in each of his first two professional seasons. Last season, Redmond played in 72 games for St. John's, notching 31 points (8G, 23A) and a plus-9 rating.

Before turning pro, Redmond played four seasons with Ferris State University, spending his final season serving as team captain.

Redmond is part of an Eastern Conference squad comprised of 24 players: 13 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders. Rosters were determined by committees of AHL coaches, and all 30 AHL teams are represented by at least one All-Star.

Redmond was originally drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the seventh round, 184th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
