Erixon Assigned To Falcons

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced on Thursday that defenseman Tim Erixon has been assigned to the club by its NHL affiliate, the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Erixon, who was recalled by Columbus from Springfield for its training camp on Sunday, leads Falcon defensemen with 24 points, 20 assists, and a career-high four goals. The second-year pro was acquired by Columbus from the New York Rangers this summer as part of a four-player trade. Erixon garnered two assists in 18 games with the Rangers last year while spending most of the season with Connecticut, leading all Whale defensemen as a rookie with 30 assists and tying for first among the club's blueliners with 33 points in 52 contests. A native of Port Chester, N.Y., Erixon was selected by the Calgary Flames in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The Falcons, who have an eight-point lead in the Northeast Division, return home to host the Connecticut Whale on Friday and the Albany Devils on Saturday at the MassMutual Center.

On Saturday, Wally the Green Monster and Screech will pick the winner of the "AAA Spring Training Getaway" during the first intermission of "Red Sox Night presented by AAA Travel." Five finalists were selected from entries through the five AAA Pioneer Valley locations and through AAA.com/Promo to win a three-day, two-night trip to Fort Myers. The grand prize includes two round-trip airline tickets, a two-night hotel stay, and two tickets to two Red Sox spring training games. The Pawtucket Red Sox and their mascot, Paws, will be displaying their Governors' Cup in the concourse as part of their 2012 International League championship celebration. Single-game tickets to see the Falcons in 2012-2013 can be purchased at the MassMutual Center Box Office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. through game time on Saturday home dates, and starting four hours prior to Sunday home contests.
