San Antonio Rampage News Release
HAMILTON, Ontario (February 7, 2012) - The San Antonio Rampage battled back from an early 2-0 deficit to score four unanswered goals and defeat the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-2 on Tuesday morning at the Copps Coliseum. The win marked San Antonio's first ever road win against the Bulldogs.
Hamilton center Ryan White started the scoring with a shot from the sideboards 4:55 into the game that found its way past Rampage backstop Dov Grumet-Morris. White's first goal of the season gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
White notched his second tally of the year just over five minutes later. He took a centering feed from forward Olivier Fortier and fired a shot past Grumet-Morris to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage.
Rampage center, and Hamilton native, Scott Timmins brought San Antonio to within one goal, at 2-1, at the 14:05 mark of the opening frame. Forward Greg Rallo sent a pass to Timmins in the low slot and Timmins lifted a backhander over Bulldogs netminder Robert Mayer for the score. Center James Wright notched the secondary assist on Timmins' eighth goal of the year.
San Antonio knotted the game at 2-2 with a power-play goal from center Mark Cullen 9:16 into the second period. He corralled a loose puck behind the Hamilton net and tucked it inside the right goal post for his seventh marker of the season. Center Bracken Kearns and defenseman Sean Sullivan posted the assists on the Cullen score.
The Rampage took their first lead of the game with nearly three minutes remaining in the middle stanza. Left wing Evan Barlow converted on a one-timer from center Jon Matsumoto in front of the Hamilton net for the go-ahead goal. Barlow's shot beat Mayer to the goaltender's left and put San Antonio ahead 3-2. Right wing Bill Thomas picked up the secondary helper on Barlow's seventh goal of the season.
Thomas finished off a two-on-one rush with Kearns to put the Rampage up 4-2 at the 13:24 mark of the third. He went high on Mayer with a snap shot to score his 13th goal of the year. Defenseman Michael Caruso received the alternate assist on the play.
Grumet-Morris made 38 stops on 40 Bulldogs attempts for his 14th win of the season while Mayer turned aside 25 of 29 Rampage shots in the Hamilton loss.
San Antonio (25-20-2-0) continues their Rodeo road trip with a visit to Toronto on Friday to play the Marlies in the first game of a three-in-three weekend.
