Rampage Fall to Rockford 5-1
November 1, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage (5-5-0-0) dropped their third straight game Saturday night, losing to the Rockford IceHogs (7-2-0-1) 5-1 in front of 5,019 at the AT&T Center.
The Rampage outshot the IceHogs 31-25 and got a late tally from Mark Mancari, but it wasn't enough to earn a win.
Just as they did in Friday night's matchup, Rockford opened up the scoring, taking a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal midway through the first period. The IceHogs caught the Rampage on a break, as Peter Regan sent a cross-crease pass to Brandon Mashinter for the tally. Mark McNeill re-directed Ville Pokka's shot past Michael Houser to give Rockford a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
T.J. Brennan extended Rockford's lead to three with a blast from the left point off the faceoff that beat Houser less than three minutes into the second stanza. Pokka notched his second point of the game with a late-period goal on a power play to give the IceHogs a 4-0 advantage after 40 minutes of play.
Rockford wasted no time getting things going in the third period, as Dennis Rasmussen scored just 35 seconds in. Mancari's marker came at 15:04 of the final frame, as he deflected a Blake Parlett shot from long range to break up Scott Darling's shutout and get the Rampage on the board.
KEY STAT
With the second assist on Mancari's third-period goal, Brett Olson now has six points (1G, 5A) in his last five games. Saturday marked the end of Bobby Butler's four-game point streak and Shane O'Brien's three-game point streak.
LINEUP NOTES
Wade Megan made his season debut with the Rampage Saturday night after being recalled from the Cincinnati Cyclones on Friday. Megan played on San Antonio's third line, centering John McFarland and Brett Olson.
Connor Brickley moved to the fourth line, skating with Steven Hodges and Tony Turgeon. Ryan Martindale centered Bobby Butler and Garrett Wilson for the second straight night following the recalls of Vincent Trocheck and Rocco Grimaldi to Florida.
UP NEXT
The Rampage host the Toronto Marlies on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. It will be Teacher Appreciation Night presented by Schreiner University as well as a MIX 96.1 $1 Drink Night at the AT&T Center.
