Admirals Sail Past Penguins, 2-1

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release
NORFOLK, Va. - Conor Sheary's third period tally was all the offense the Penguins could muster, as the Norfolk Admirals posted a 2-1 win Saturday night at the Scope. The Admirals (4-5-0-0, 8 points) picked up their second win in as many nights over the Penguins (5-4-1-0, 11 points), who now sit in second place in the East Division.
Norfolk carried the play in the first period, when they limited the Penguins to just one shot on goal. Despite a decided shot advantage, the Admirals needed a late power play opportunity to take the lead.
Penguins captain Tom Kostopoulos was whistled for a cross-checking infraction with 2:01 left in the frame, and Brad Winchester used a 3-on-1 advantage to slip the puck through Matt Murray's five-hole and into the back of the net with just 10 seconds left in the opening period.
The Admirals doubled their lead in the second when Nic Kerdiles tallied his first goal of the season at the 17:24 mark. Murray controlled the puck in the trapezoid but was unable to clear the zone and Kerdiles was left with a basically empty net at which to shoot.
Sheary's second goal of the season came with 5:24 left in the game. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton had several opportunities to equal the score late, but Norfolk goaltender Jason LaBarbera denied the Pens' push, making 14 saves in the third period and 22 overall.
The Pens return home again next Friday, November 7, when they will host the Hershey Bears at 7:05pm. Individual tickets for all Penguins home games are available at the Mohegan Sun Arena Box Office, online at TicketMaster.com, or by calling 800-745-3000.
Penguins season tickets, including full season, 22-game, 12-game and 10-ticket flex vouchers, are available directly through the Penguins ticket offices at 570-208-7367.
