San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - Forward Joel Perrault punched in the game winner 1:48 into overtime and the red hot Rampage stormed to a franchise record 6th straight win, 3-2 over Quad City in front of 5,937 at the AT&T Center Saturday night.

The Rampage took a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal from forward Brett MacLean, his team leading tenth, at 9:38 in the first. MacLean's redirect from the crease of Alexander Nikulin shot slid past the block of Leland Irving and over the goal line.

San Antonio had struggled against the Flames penalty kill, going 1-14 through three games coming into the contest. Meanwhile, Quad City came into the game 8-19 on the man advantage and capitalized on their first try.

Quad City tied it up at 16:21 in the first with when John Armstrong centered to David Van der Gulik skating down the slot, who beat Rampage goalie Josh Tordjman through the five-hole with a backhander for a power-play goal and 1-1 tie.

The Rampage controlled the puck out shooting the Flames 27-14 through two periods but couldn't crack through Irving's defense and it was still 1-1 going into the third.

In the third, it was the Flames on another power play opportunity when forward David Spina broke up a pass, sped up the right wall and found Kevin Porter back door for the shorthanded goal and a 2-1 Rampage lead.

San Antonio held that lead with time running out when Kyle Greentree bulled through the crease to push a Kris Chucko shot across the goal line with 8.6 seconds remaining in regulation.

In overtime, Sullivan fed Perrault from behind the net for the game winner. It was Perrault's first goal of the season. Porter's shorthanded goal was the first since Spina recorded one on October 25th against Iowa.

Porter was assigned by Phoenix to San Antonio today, played at Michigan with forward Chad Kolarik, and was the 2008 Hobey Baker Award winner as college hockey's top player.

Tordjman tied his own franchise mark with his sixth straight win, saving 21-23 shots. He also tied the franchise record with his 44th career win.

The Rampage are on the road in Chicago on Sunday. San Antonio returns home on Thursday and Friday to the AT&T Center.
