Albany Devils News Release
LOWELL, Mass. - Jeff Frazee made 41 saves for the Lowell Devils as the Worcester Sharks doubled them up, 4-2, on Saturday night at the Tsongas Arena. Derek Joslin led the Sharks with a shorthanded goal and an assist, while Jamie McGinn chipped in two assists.
With the Devils skating on the power play midway through the first period, Joslin helped the Sharks take a 1-0 lead when he picked off an errant pass at his own blueline. The Worcester defenseman raced down the ice alone and shoulder faked Frazee down to the ice before sliding a backhand into the net at 10:59.
Less than two minutes later, Lowell would convert on their next power play and knot the score at 1-1. A rebound from Rod Pelley's shot bounced to the far post for Petr Vrana, who quickly dumped it past Thomas Greiss for his first goal of the season.
Worcester would take their lead and the momentum back with 4.7 seconds left until the intermission. Corey Larose was able to fend off a Lowell defenseman in the slot and sent a wrister to the left side of the net for a power play goal. At 3:32 of the second period, the Sharks made the score 3-1 in their favor on a 2-on-1 break. Steven Zalewski cut away from the retreating defense and fired a shot from the hash marks that found space under the pads of Frazee.
Ryan Vesce added to Worcester's goal total 2:01 into final frame with a deflection of Joslin's slapshot.
The Devils pulled within two goals almost halfway through the same period as Brad Mills batted home Vladimir Zharkov's center pass for his third of the year.
The Devils take to the road next weekend for a three-game trip beginning on Friday, December 19 versus the Philadelphia Phantoms at 7:05pm.
